Our Story

Born in Charlotte North Carolina, Alan Gilbert was raised by a traditional southern family. Not exactly conforming to the norms, he stretched and even broke many of the rules he was taught as a kid. After getting kicked out of a private school at age 14 and some run ins with the law... he got in line for Arlo Guthrie tickets and found much in common with the legendary folksinger. Music has been one of his passions ever since, so he went on to the local community college to further his education.

"Gilbert spent 11 years in college at Central Piedmont, studying engineering, art, and music. He's continued pursing music, recently recording an original album and performing several times in Concord at the ArtWalk." (Discover Stanly 2013)

After playing classical guitar, electric bass and keyboards in other musical groups, Alan has now evolved into an exciting singer songwriter. His songs are diverse with great melodies that tend to get stuck in your head. He has a story to tell and does so beautifully. Definitely true to himself, he is one of a kind.

You may see him on a city street playing for tips or at a festival, and if you stop and listen, you will hear something special, as if you were supposed to be there. Currently writing material and getting ready to make another record, he will have a few performances coming up in the near future. Make sure you catch him live if you can.
